Oldcastle is located on a 25 acre site just outside Dallas . The company occupied this new site in 1999. O/B produces underground concrete vaults for telephone, electric, water and sewer. O/B also produces bridges, detention tanks, communication enclosures, lamp pole bases, trench, fuel vaults and a host of other precast concrete items.
Products are produced in a 68,000 square foot with a work force of close to sixty people. The production facility boasts five overhead bridge cranes ranging in capacity to 15 tons. 750 barrels of cement/ fly ash is stored in two silos and 250 tons of aggregates are fed to the weigh batcher and 3 yard pan mixer via a radial stacker and skip hoist. Batches are called for remotely from the shop floor. A menu of 40 recipes and automatic discharge is all in the hands of the crane operator.
The products are moved about the yard and delivered with truck mounted cranes, fork lifts and a 50 ton capacity travel-lift. They are loaded and shipped on a fleet of tractor trailers.
The facility also includes a state-of-the-art steel fabrication shop. The KRB mini-shearline feeds the KRB bending machine that in turn feeds the cage welding and tying stations. A full service maintenance facility, carpenter shop, raw material warehouse storage area and "world class" quality control lab round out the shop.
